Experience real village life with a welcoming Khmer family. This homestay takes you beyond the temples and into the Cambodian countryside, where you'll enjoy everyday local life. Help with farming, learn to cook traditional Khmer food, share meals with your host family, and experience local traditions, including a peaceful monk blessing ceremony

Day 1 is dedicated to village life and farm activities: meet your host family, walk through the village, and join in real farming tasks such as plowing, planting rice, and cutting grass for the cows. In the evening, cook traditional Khmer dishes together and enjoy dinner under a peaceful village sky.

Day 2 begins with a quiet morning routine and a local breakfast, followed by a visit to the village pagoda for a traditional monk blessing — a moment of reflection, gratitude, and good wishes for your onward journey.

This experience is perfect for travelers who want to connect with local people, understand Cambodian culture, and enjoy a simple, meaningful lifestyle in the countryside.

Weather

Hot and dry weather is expected throughout this tour. Occasional showers are possible, but most days remain dry. Midday temperatures can be very hot, though most woodland sites have low humidity. Wetland sites can be more humid by their nature. The tour is paced so we are not forced to bird through the heat of the day.

Food

Khmer cuisine is similar to most Southeast Asian cooking but rather less spicy. Lodge staff cooks a wide variety of good local food. Thanks to French influence, good bread is widely available, and there is a surprisingly wide range of local brews to try.
